Acreage Calculator
We developed this acreage calculator to compute the size of a land area in acres. Perimeter acreage calculator allow users to input the dimensions of a property in various units (like feet, meters, or yards) and then convert that area into acres.
Let’s say you have a rectangular plot of land that measures 300 feet by 150 feet. An acreage calculator would help you determine that this plot is approximately 1.03 acres.
Acreage Calculation Chart
Shape | Formula | Example Dimensions | Acreage |
---|---|---|---|
Rectangle | (Length x Width) / 43,560 | 300 ft x 150 ft | 1.03 acres |
Triangle | (Base x Height) / 87,120 | 400 ft x 200 ft | 0.92 acres |
Circle | (π x r²) / 43,560 | Radius = 120 ft | 1.04 acres |
Irregular | Use GPS coordinates | Varies | Varies |
Acreage Formula
The basic acreage calculation formula converts square feet to acres:
Acres = Square Feet ÷ 43,560
This is because one acre equals 43,560 square feet. For shapes other than rectangles, you first calculate the area in square feet, then divide by 43,560.
Calculate the acreage of a triangular plot with a base of 400 feet and a height of 200 feet.
- Area of triangle = (Base x Height) ÷ 2
- Area = (400 x 200) ÷ 2 = 40,000 sq ft
- Acres = 40,000 ÷ 43,560 = 0.92 acres
How to calculate acreage?
To calculate acreage, follow these steps:
Measure the dimensions of your land in feet.
Calculate the area in square feet based on the shape.
Divide the square footage by 43,560 to get the acreage.
You have an L-shaped property composed of two rectangles. One measures 200 ft x 100 ft, and the other is 100 ft x 50 ft.
- Area of first rectangle: 200 x 100 = 20,000 sq ft
- Area of second rectangle: 100 x 50 = 5,000 sq ft
- Total area: 20,000 + 5,000 = 25,000 sq ft
- Acreage: 25,000 ÷ 43,560 = 0.57 acres
