Oil to Butter Conversion Formula
The general formula for converting butter to oil is:
Amount of oil = Amount of butter × 0.75
This formula works because butter is about 80% fat and 20% water, while oil is 100% fat. By multiplying the amount of butter by 0.75, you’re accounting for the water content in butter and using only the fat portion.
Suppose a recipe calls for 1 cup of butter, and you want to use oil instead. Using the formula:
1 cup butter × 0.75 = 3/4 cup oil
Therefore, you would use 3/4 cup of oil to replace 1 cup of butter in your recipe.
