How to Calculate Steak Cooking Time

The meat’s starting temperature significantly impacts cooking time – always let your steak reach room temperature before cooking.
- Rare: 2 minutes per side at 120–125°F (49–52°C).
- Medium Rare: 3 minutes per side, 130–135°F (54–57°C).
- Medium: 4 minutes per side, 140–145°F (60–63°C).
- Medium Well: 5 minutes per side, 150–155°F (65–68°C).
