Average Nose Measurement Calculator
This is my nose big calculator measure nasal length / width using Nose Length = Face Width × 0.333 (approx. 1/3 of face width) and Nose Width = Nose Length × 0.8 formula.
For instance, if your nose length is 50mm, width is 35mm, and your face height is 180mm, the calculator would compare these measurements against established averages and ethnic variations to determine if your nose proportions are within typical ranges.
Nose Size Measurement Chart
To find out is your nose big, you can use this table as well.
Gender | Average Length (mm) | Average Width (mm) | Tip Projection (mm) |
---|---|---|---|
Male | 50-58 | 34-42 | 20-24 |
Female | 46-52 | 31-38 | 18-22 |
Overall Averages
- Length: 48-54mm (adult average)
- Width: 32-40mm (adult average)
- Projection: 19-23mm (from face)
Female-Specific Measurements
Women’s noses typically measure:
- Length: 46-52mm
- Width: 31-38mm
- Projection: 18-22mm
Average Nose Measurement Formula
The nasal index measurement calculated using the formula:
Nose Length = Face Width × 0.333 (approx. 1/3 of face width)
This formula considers the relationship between face width and nose length.
Nose Width = Nose Length × 0.8
Typically, the width of the nose is around 80% of its length.
Nasal Index = (Nose Width ÷ Nose Length) × 100
If your nose width is 35mm and length is 50mm: Nasal Index = (35 ÷ 50) × 100 = 70
- Leptorrhine (narrow nose): < 70
- Mesorrhine (medium nose): 70-85
- Platyrrhine (broad nose): > 85
How to Measure Nose Length Properly
To measure nose length accurately:
- Use a digital caliper or ruler.
- Measure from the nasion (deepest point of nasal bridge) to the tip (most projecting point).
- Ensure measurement is taken in a natural head position.
A 60mm nose length would be considered long for most populations, while 46-54mm represents typical ranges.
A 30-year-old female with a 48mm nose length, 34mm width, and 20mm projection would have very typical measurements.
A 4cm (40mm) nose would be considered relatively small for most adults.
On a petite female with a face height of 160mm, a 40mm nose might appear proportionate, while it could look small on a tall male with a face height of 190mm.
Is a 2-inch Long Nose Big?
A 2-inch (approximately 51mm) nose length is typically within normal range for most adults. However, perception varies significantly based on:
For a European male with a face height of 180mm, a 51mm nose would be considered average, while the same length might be slightly above average for an Asian female.
