Baritone | A2 | A4 | 2 |
Tenor | C3 | C5 | 2 |

Vocal Range Formula
Here is formula for calculating voice range, by using simple equation to determine the number of semitones in a given range:
Number of semitones = (Octave difference × 12) + Difference in scale degrees
Calculate the range in semitones for a singer with a lowest note of A2 and a highest note of F4:
Octave difference: 2 (from A2 to A4) – 1 = 1
Difference in scale degrees: F is 5 semitones above A
Number of semitones = (1 × 12) + 5 = 17 semitones
Calculate the range in semitones for a singer with a lowest note of C3 and a highest note of G5:
Octave difference: 5 – 3 = 2
Difference in scale degrees: G is 7 semitones above C
Number of semitones = (2 × 12) + 7 = 31 semitones

How to Calculate My Vocal Range?
Follow these steps to calculate your vocal range:
Warm up your voice: Start with some vocal exercises to prepare your voice for singing.
Find your lowest note: Begin with a comfortable low note and gradually sing lower until you reach the lowest note you can produce clearly.
Find your highest note: Start from a comfortable middle range and sing higher until you reach the highest note you can produce without straining.
Identify the notes: Use a piano, keyboard, or tuner app to identify the specific notes you’ve sung.
Determine your range: Your vocal range is the span between your lowest and highest notes.
Consider your vocal registers: Take note of where your voice transitions between chest voice, mixed voice, and head voice.
